Today the board of TV4 AB appointed Casten Almqvist as the new CEO for the TV4 Group starting Jan. 1, 2012. Almqvist is currently the CEO of Dagens Industri, as well as for the business areas Bonnier Business Press and Bonnier Digital within Bonnier AB. He returns after many years in Bonnier's business press and private consulting for the TV industry, where previously he has held a number of different positions.
"TV4 has a unique position among Swedish audiences, created by employees and management through providing really good programs," says Almqvist. "Furthermore, the TV4 Group has been developed into a well-managed and modern company with over 40 TV channels, pay TV and premium digital services. I can't think of anything more exciting than to keep up the impressive work."

The TV4 Group's current CEO Jan Scherman will become vice president for the business area Bonnier Broadcasting, and take on responsibility for content, strategy and coordination issues on a Nordic level within the business area, together with CEO Torsten Larsson.
"After 21 years at TV4, including 10 as the CEO, it's time now for someone else to take over, and I take comfort in that it will be Casten Almqvist," says Scherman. Scherman will also be a member of the board for the Finnish MTV3, the Swedish afternoon daily Expressen, C More Entertainment and serve as executive chairman for the news company that Bonnier Broadcasting and the TV4 Group will be launching together.
Almqvist has held his current position within Bonnier since 2008 and is a part of Bonnier AB's executive management. He has a broad media background and has among other things been a producer and partner at Strix Television, CEO for Sweden's TV3, TV6 and ZTV, CEO for ad agency McCann Erickson's Swedish office as well as producer for Sveriges Television and journalist for Radio Stockholm.
Jan Scherman has been CEO for the TV4 Group since 2001 and before that, program director for the channel. Prior to that, he was current affairs director for TV4. He started his career at the channel as a reporter for current affairs program Kalla fakta when TV4 was launched in 1990. He has also worked for Sveriges Television, Sveriges Radio and the Swedish daily newspaper Östgöta Correspondenten. He won the Stora Journalistpriset in 1989 and was awarded the 2008 Stockholm Media Award for Industry Person of the Year.
