"I am very pleased that Josefine Tengblad wishes to lead the important work on drama for TV4, at a time when the focus of our own efforts is becoming increasingly important for all platforms. With her background in film, television and theatre, Josefine has a broad palette, and also a willingness and forward direction that will be a strong asset and strength for our business in a rapidly changing industry," says Åsa Sjöberg, incoming director of content at TV4 Group.
In the newly created role of Head of Drama, Josefine Tengblad will lead the work on TV4 Group's film and drama productions, and will therefore also develop commissioning alongside TV4 Group's digital transformation. Local Swedish programming, of which drama is an important building block, will remain in focus as the operations are adapted to address viewers on the increasing number of platforms where TV4 Group will offer its content.
"TV4 has been one of the leading providers of drama for many years, and has greatly contributed to the success of "Nordic Noir" around the world. Managing and refreshing this heritage, and driving TV4's work with film and drama forward in a new media world is a significant and exciting challenge that requires creativity, the daring to challenge ourselves and the constant renewal of the drama genre since the demand for quality grows among our audience. Exclusivity in the local Swedish arena is incredibly important, and we continue to enhance our efforts here," says Josefine Tengblad.
Josefine Tengblad has worked as executive producer for film and drama at TV4 for three years, with productions like Maria Lang and The Sandhamn Murders. Previously, she worked with several Lars von Trier productions and with 23 Wallander films. In 2010, she started her own production company, Lebox, where she produced the feature film Kiss Me, for which she received the 2011 Lorens Award at the Gothenburg International Film Festival as producer of the year. Josefine has also produced, and acted in, a number of theatre productions.
TV4 is co-producer of, and will broadcast this autumn, six films in the Maria Lang detective series, the new comedy drama Torpederna, from FLX, new Wallander films and new episodes of The Sandhamn Murders. Production is also ongoing of the new comedy series Ack Värmland, written and directed by Ulf Malmros, new Johan Falk and Beck films, and several episodes of the crime series Maria Wern. In production are also a new season of Welcome to Sweden, which is experiencing major success in the USA, and Solsidan. A number of other drama productions are also in development.
Josefine Tengblad is currently on parental leave and will fully take up her new position on April 1 next year. She will report to Åsa Sjöberg.
